A sure sign of spring is the reopening of the Silvermont House Museum located at 364 East Main Street in Brevard. The nine room museum will be open to the public beginning March 21, from 2 to 4 p.m. on the third Friday of each month.
Individual, group or school tours can be arranged by calling Parks and Recreation (884-3156) or Silvermont (884-3166). There is no charge for admission to the second floor museum, however it is not handicapped accessible. Tours are led by knowledgeable docents who explain the life and times of the Joseph Silversteen family. Read more about the history.
